Press Release Selected Works Sky Kim "Vortex Activated" July 1 – 18, 2022 Sky Kim | Vortex Activated July 1-18, 2022 66 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, NY Chase Contemporary is pleased to announce a solo show of paintings by globally renowned artist Sky Kim at its Easthampton, New York, location. Kim's meticulous paintings explore complex themes spanning sacred geometry, quantum physics, and reincarnation. Painstakingly painting intricate circles and sacred spirals in vibrant colors, Sky delves into physics for inspiration. "I believe we are all multi-dimensional beings. I believe we exist in multiple dimensions, simultaneously. This is from my strong interest in quantum physics, and my interest in spirituality," the artist told Forbes. Vortex Activated will feature a selection of large-scale works on paper, and will be on view from July 1-18 at Chase Contemporary's Easthampton gallery. An opening reception will be held on Friday, July 1 from 5-7 p.m. at 66 Newtown Lane. This exhibition, featuring works from the Vortex and Multiverse series, builds on Kim's first solo show at Chase Contemporary's SoHo flagship, Microscopic Obsession, on April 7 to May 1, 2022. Kim uses celestial imagery and mandalas to draw viewers into other dimensions. Each work is a journey into Kim's mind, psyche, and creative process. Her mediative, repetitive patterns create vibrations and operate as optical illusions, while arousing emotions through her scientific and spiritual inquiries. The multiverse is a philosophical concept that suggests there are numerous, parallel universes overlapping our own, each with its own unique trajectories and histories. Kim's work often references the parallel worlds that define the multiverse. The relationship between inner and outer space is a common motif in her art, and her masterful use of watercolor oscillates between two- and three-dimensional space. Kim's dazzling watercolor works incorporate acrylic and Swarovski crystals to examine intense philosophical, scientific, and spiritual questions, but Kim wants the works to convey openness by engaging the viewer's interpretation. "I want my viewers to see what they need to see," she said. Sky Kim was born
