Chase Contemporary is pleased to announce In Her Image, a group exhibition of mixed media works centered around the female figure. Artists included world-renowned hyperrealist sculptor Carole Feuerman and hyperrealist painter Yigal Ozeri, the internationally recognized fashion photographer Raphael Mazzucco, Danish watercolor painter Ole Aakjaer, body painter Andy Golub, and the American figurative artist Alex Katz. The show will run from March 28th through April 21st, 2019. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 28th, from 6-8pm at 231 10th Avenue, New York, NY 10011. The gallery will host a performance on Thursday, April 11th, from 5-8 pm for NYC-based artist Andy Golub, who specializes in public art and body painting. Golub will be painting three live female models in the gallery space, creating a painting out of the female figure that will later be available as a print.
Ole Aakjaer - Ole Aakjær has gained recognition as the one of the leading artists from Denmark. His watercolor and ink works in large scale format shows his signature style, creating portraits laden with multilayered symbolism. The natural imperfections the artistic process left behind form a colorful, highly imaginative narrative.
The Connor Brothers - The Connor Brothers is the pseudonym for British artists James Golding and Mike Snelle. The Connor Brothers have been amongst the most prominent artistic voices to comment on the refugee crisis, having worked in The Jungle refugee camp in Calais building shelters and on an international billboard campaign, Refuchic, highlighting the plight of displaced people.
Carole Feuerman - New York based, celebrated artist Carole A. Feuerman is acknowledged, alongside Duane Hanson and John D'Andrea, as one of the three major American hyperrealist sculptors that started the movement in the 1970’s.
Andy Golub - Andy Golub is a world renowned artist specializing in public art and body art. His public performances have changed nudity laws in New York City and opened the doors for free expression for many other artists. Founder of the international non-profit Human Connection Arts, Golub's work has been featured in many events in NYC, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin and San Francisco.
Alex Katz - Since the 1960s Katz has painted views of New York, the landscapes of Maine, where he spends several months every year, as well as portraits of family members, artists, writers and New York society protagonists. His paintings are defined by their flatness of colour and form, their economy of line, and their cool but seductive emotional detachment.
Raphael Mazzucco - Raphael Mazzucco is a Canadian photographer of art, music, and fashion, whose work has earned him international acclaim. Renowned soccer player–turned fashion photographer, Mazzucco specializes in multifaceted, female-centric images that reflect his various creative interests and strengths.
Yigal Ozeri - Yigal Ozeri is best known for his large-scale cinematic portraits of distinctive young women in rich prodigious landscapes. With tinges of Pre-Raphaelite aesthetics, Ozeri brings an ethereal and uninhibited sensibility to his paintings. His portraits denote art historical foundations in romanticism, while also offering contemporary notions of sensual femininity
